Legal aspects of rail travel Retaining tickets

My ticket was retained by one of the train attendants during an inspection. Is that allowed?

Yes, train attendants may retain your ticket if, for example, they suspect that it is an invalid ticket. They must provide you with confirmation of retention so you have proof in the event of a penalty being demanded (additional fare) or legal proceedings.

The legal basis is Article 13(5) of the Railway Transportation Act.
