Services & alternative mobility offers Call and collect taxi service (AST)

What is a call and collect taxi service (AST)? Why do I have to order the AST? How much does a ride cost?

What is a call and collect taxi service (AST) and how does it work?

The AST is a mixture of a bus and taxi. It costs the same as a trip with a VVT bus.

The AST travels according to a timetable when it is ordered. Passengers can therefore only order the AST at certain times. The smaller vehicles stop at AST collection points, which are often stops for regular bus services.

Why do I have to order the AST?

Buses run at fixed times and regular intervals. On-call buses like the AST chauffeur passengers on demand. For small communities with fewer passengers, it is a flexible and fast transport solution, where a regular service at regular intervals would not be the appropriate transport solution. Therefore the AST drivers are always ready but only drive when they are needed.

What are the AST fares?

VVT fares apply to the AST, i.e. all valid VVT tickets. Einzeltickets are available from the drivers at the respective price for one zone and are billed according to the number of zones travelled. All season and network tickets are also valid for the AST, e.g. KlimaTicket Tyrol/Regions/Senior, Semesterticket Tyrol or Schultickets and Lehrtickets.

Where does the AST go?

VVT is constantly expanding the call and collect taxi service range. Currently the AST runs in East Tyrol in the Defereggental and Alta Pusteria/Hochpustertal valleys.

More information about the AST can be found here.
