There’s the KlimaTicket Tyrol Special for people with disabilities as well as recipients of the compensatory allowance.

Prerequisite:

• An Austrian disability pass (degree of disability/reduction in earning capacity of at least 70% or corresponding note in the disability pass) or
• People severely disabled by war or
• Proof of receipt of the compensatory allowance

Semesterticket Tyrol  - the most affordable means of transport for students

• For university students (Uni and FH) in Tirol, who are 27 or younger
• Valid for all buses, trains and trams in all of Tyrol incl. Innsbruck (core zone)
• Valid for 6 months (winter semester from September to February, summer semester from March to August)
• Non-transferable
• Travelling from one federal state to another: The Semesterticket Tyrol can be combined with an ÖBB ticket from the final stop of the train in Tyrol. Various student tickets (e.g. Tyrol, Vorarlberg, Salzburg) are valid in combination. Between Kufstein and Salzburg, an ÖBB ticket from the last stop in Tyrol must be purchased for the German corridor (‘Deutsches Eck’).

Schulticket

For those who only want a ticket from their place of residence to school and back, there’s the Schulticket for just 19.60 euro

• Valid for rides from your place of residence to school and back (at least 4 days per week) for pupils younger than 24. Valid only on school days on which lessons take place (not on weekends or during school holidays); boarding school pupils receive a travel allowance (Schulfahrtbeihilfe) for their journey home from boarding school.
• Non-transferable

Tip: the Schulticket can also be upgraded to the Schulticket Tyrol at a later time (the already paid sum of 19.60 EUR will go towards the upgraded ticket)

Ticket in 3 steps

Application forms are available in the schools or in the VVT Customer Service Centre.

1. Application forms must be filled out in full
2. Please make the payment and have the form validated by the school (stamp & signature)
3. Turn in the application form incl. payment confirmation to the school, the VVT or IVB Customer Service Centres, or directly at the transport companies.

Note on the “Transitional arrangement for the start of school" 2022/2023

The following arrangement applies to the transition period between 31 August of a school year and the beginning of the new school year / the issue date of the new tickets:

Schulticket: No ticket is required for the trip to and from school for the first two weeks (01.09.2022 to 17.09.2022). From 20.09.2022  a valid ticket or payment confirmation (stamped payment slip or online banking printout) is required as proof for the trip to and from school. A valid ticket must be carried from 04.10.2022.

Schulticket Tyrol: Payment confirmation (stamped payment slip, online banking, etc.) must be carried as a replacement ticket until the new Schulticket Tyrol is issued.
Tip: School students under the age of 18 can also buy their Schulticket Tyrol for the coming school year online from the VVT ticket shop.

Lehrticket Tyrol

Apprenticeship and freetime for 99.80 euro*

Jobticket for Professionals

The Jobticket is subject to new rules as of 1 January 2013.
“Jobticket” means: Companies can voluntarily choose to provide their employees with the ticket for public transport to work as a tax-free perk.

“Jobticket” in 5 steps

• Companies and organisations can voluntarily choose to financially support an employee’s journey to work by providing the ticket for public transport. The employee is not required to pay taxes or social-security contributions. The ticket is considered a business expense for companies.
• The “Jobticket” is a perk offered by the employer. Regardless of whether the ticket is ordered individually or in bulk, the invoice must include the company’s address and name as well as the name(s) of the employee(s). Companies can also pay a portion of the Jobticket tax-free.
• A “Jobticket” is considered a route ticket or network ticket for the ride between the place of residence and the workplace. A network ticket is only permitted if no route ticket is offered (e.g. in the inner city public transport) or if no higher costs would be due.
• The Jobticket is to be understood as an additional benefit, and cannot be in lieu of salary paid (conversion into salary). Already paid travel allowances, which are now handled as a Jobticket, are excluded.
• Eligibility for the commuter allowance (Pendlerpauschale) is not available for months in which a “Jobticket” or company car for private use is made available. Such months are to be noted on the payslip and in the payroll account (see Lohnkontenverordnung 2006). Nevertheless, a commuter allowance can still be claimed for the part of the route for which no “Jobticket" is made available or for which there is no public transport, for example for the ride to the train station. In this case, the starting point of the means of transport (for which the "Jobticket" is available) is then used to calculate the distance (instead of the work place).
• If the employee pays part or all of the “Jobticket”, the cost of this additional payment can be claimed (up to the amount of the commuter allowance) for the entire ride.

Please note: Please note that in the wage tax guidelines (Lohnsteuerrichtlinien) and the BMF “Steuerbuch 2013" with regard to the current eligible groups (as of July 2013), the old, more limited Jobticket scheme (only for people receiving the commuter allowance) is quoted. This information is obsolete and the Jobticket is now open to all employees.

Special case: Employees already have a ‘Strecken’ or ‘KlimaTicket’
An existing VVT KlimaTicket can be cancelled at the end of the month at the VVT Customer Service Centre and a new Jobticket can be applied for (to be billed to the company).
